猫トイレの語彙

猫トイレの語彙を集めてみました。

うちの猫は花王の「ニャンとも清潔トイレ」を使っているので、英語で表現するとどうなるのかなと思って調べました。
外国ではPurinaという有名メーカーから、わりと似た感じの猫トイレ「Breeze」が売られていることが分かりました。

このページを見てみると、私の語彙不足もありますが、独特な語彙が使われていて、興味深かったです。

下記は、Breezeのページを参考にニャンともの特徴を英語でまとめて、二人のネイティブスピーカーに、表現として使えることを確認しました。

・猫トイレ：cat litter box（ただし、ノンネイティブにはなじみがないかもしれないので、cat toiletと言っても良い）
・オープンタイプ(屋根付きのトイレ)：Non-hooded type
・ドームタイプ(屋根がないタイプ)：Hooded type
・針葉樹のチップ：pellets made from conifer trees
・従来の猫砂とは異なり、チップは尿で固まりません：Unlike traditional (cat) litter, the pellets are non-clumping.

・（猫砂が）固まる：clump (ただし、ノンネイティブには、stick togetherでもOK)
・猫砂：cat litter (ただし、ノンネイティブにはcat sandでもOK)
・脱臭成分のパッド：anti-odor pad
・ニオわない!：Controls odors!
・アンモニア臭をカットする：neutralize ammonia
・抗菌・中和・吸着の成分：anti-bacterial, neutralizing, and absorbent components
・スノコ式のトレー：slotted tray
・おしっこがスノコ式のトレーを通って下層に流れる：Liquids pass through the slotted tray into the compartment below.

・チップは、肉球にはさまりません。：Pellets do not cling to paws.

・チップとパッドは別売り(スーパー、薬局、ホームセンターなどで取り扱い)：Pellets and pad refills are sold at supermarkets, drug stores, and home improvement stores.
＊ホームセンターはhome improvement centerと言うそうです。

・白い脱臭・抗菌シートもご用意。猫の健康状態が分かります。：White sheets are also available to help you check your cat's health condition. The sheet also contains natural odor & germ-controlling components.

・チップはサイズ違いで３タイプあります(「大きめ、小さめ、極小」)。セット品には「大きめの粒」が入っています：3 sizes of pellets are available (very small, small, and large). The litter box comes with complimentary pellets (large size).
＊「大きめ、小さめ、極小」は、日本語の通り訳しましたが、通常、3サイズの場合は、small, medium, largeを使うとのことです。

・おそうじラクラク：easy to clean.
・パッドはたたんで捨てるだけ。：Just fold the pad and throw it away.

・セット内容　その日からすぐにお使いいただけます。 (トイレ本体、チップ（大）、パッド、スコップ）：The litter box includes everything: Cat litter box, a bag of pellets (large pellet size), brown pads, and a scoop.

・スタイリッシュなデザイン：sleek design
・広いスノコ面だから、猫が端っこでオシッコしても、大丈夫！：Wide slotted tray ensures all liquid passes through.

・猫は泌尿器科トラブルを起こしやすい。：Cats are prone to urinary problems.

(慣れさせ方)
・新しいトイレへの慣れさせ方：How to get your cat accustomed to the new litter box:
・今のトイレから、ウンチやおしっこの塊を移す：Transfer urine clumps and stool (if possible) from the old one into the new one.

・新しいトイレだと認識できるよう、新しいトイレを今のトイレの横に置き、両方使えるようにする。今までのトイレの掃除を止める。：To help your cat understand it is a new litter box, place the new box just next to the old one. Stop cleaning the old one.

・新しいトイレに慣れたら、古いトイレを捨てる。：After your cat gets used to the new one, remove the old one.

・焦らず待ちましょう。このトイレは従来のトイレとは違うので、慣れるのに時間のかかる猫ちゃんもいます。無理やりつかわせないこと。：Don't force your cat. The box is very different from conventional ones. It may take a while for some cats to get used to it. Let your cat use it as s/he wants to.

(猫トイレの使い方)
・猫トイレの引き出しにシートを敷く。引き出しをしまう。：Place a pad/sheet in the drawer of the box. Slide the drawer shut until it clicks.
・猫トイレの上段に、チップを半袋分入れる。：Fill the top portion of the box with half a bag of pellets.
・ウンチをした時は早く取り除いてください：Remove feces as soon as possible.

・パッドは燃えるごみとして処理できます。ただし、処理の方法が異なる場合がありますので、お住まいの地域のルールに従ってください。：Pads can go in with your burnable garbage. (Be sure to follow your local rules.)

・猫の頭数＋1個のトイレを置くのがお勧め。(例えば、2匹の場合3個)：It is recommended to have one box per cat & one additional box. (For example, 3 boxes for 2 cats)
