ネイティブに、新聞記事の英訳の一部を添削してもらいました。
日本語は分からない先生なのでニュアンスは多少はずれがあるかもしれませんが、
文脈から読み取ってくれて修正してくれました。

・「その機能について好意的である」
(私) feel positive about the function
(修正後) favor the function

・「AとBの開発は別々の時期に開始された」
(私) Development of A and B started at different time periods.
(修正後) Development of A and B started at different times.

・「店に行って初めて新しい機能を知った」
(私) I got to know new functions for the first time when I visited the store.
(修正後) I discovered new functions when I visited the store.

・「その講演によって聴衆が安全志向になった」
(私) The lecture changed the audience to have a safety-oriented mindset.
(修正後) The lecture geared the audience toward a safety-oriented mindset.や
The lecture encouraged the audience to have a safety-oriented mindset.

下記2つは、合ってはいるものの、フォーマルな文章では(修正後)の表現の方が
良いとのことでした。

・「次の製品の開発」
(私) development of the next product
(修正後) development of the subsequent product

・「少し値段が高い」
(私) a little more expensive
(修正後) slightly more expensive
